My partner decided to trade in his base model 2016 Elantra GT for a newer, differenter, more luxuriouser 2018 Elantra Limited. He’s a normie, so he’s always been way more interested in features than the actual car itself. This thing has a ridiculous level of features including Blue Link, which means he can lock, unlock, start, stop, or turn the headlights on from his phone. It definitely feels more substantial than the previous model, and the interior is a big upgrade from his old GT. I’ll take more pictures later, because it’s too damn cold outside.

You know, I actually kinda like these. They aren’t bad looking and have some fun extras.

This thing has an incredible amount of features. If a luxury car owner from the 80's time traveled to now and sat in this car, they would be blown away.

Even the Lamborghini drivers of the ‘80s would be impressed by the interior. God bless the Countach.

That’s a sharp looking car. I think he chose wisely on the color.

It is a great color. It’s the same color as his old GT, and the same color as my Optima.

I often post my disdain for sedans in general, especially small ones, but somehow the Elantra pulls this off better than almost any other car on the road.

I think so too. I do wish the trunk opening was a bit bigger, but it’s still a big trunk.

Yeah, they probably could have gone with a liftback to solve that problem, but a lot of buyers would no longer see it as a sedan. The old Mazda6 did a good job hiding it.

I think they should liftback ALL THE THINGS.
I rented a Mazda6 liftback once and couldn’t understand why it’s not the standard sedan configuration.

Those new Elantras are good looking rigs - we’ve got a neighbor up the street with a new blue one, (they look a little bigger than the outgoing model to me too.)

Hyundai makes the best looking cars on the road at this price point. Congrats!

When I sold cars I was always impressed with how much stuff Hyundai gave you on their cars. Stuff like heated rear seats on a top level Elantra on 2013 model.
Congrats to him.

awesome! as much as everyone loves a manual in their fun car, being able to start your DD from your phone seriously kicks ass.

He had heated seats on his base Elantra GT, but the rest of it still kind of felt like a base model and he got bored quick. This one has plenty of shiny objects to keep him entertained. I don’t mean that as an insult at all; I wish my car had half of the shiny objects that his does.
The quality seems to have taken another leap forward too. I don’t know how anyone test drives this and then a Corolla, and chooses the Corolla.

Thanks! I haven’t actually driven it yet because we got it so late last night, but it’s a really nice car.

They do feel just a tad bigger. Funny thing, about a month ago my parents bought a 2018 Elantra SE and they love it also.

I just skimmed this reply so thanks for the tip!
Later I’m going to look for tips on bear hunting. It’s amazing how many locations there are in large cities.

Ha - it’s his new car so he’ll be the one to enjoy it for a while, I’m sure.

Even in base trim, I find this new Elantra to be quite an impressive vehicle (from rental experience). Personally, I would have gotten a GT, but I can’t fault a ‘normie’ for choosing the sedan.

I’m not sold on the new GT’s styling though, and neither was he. I think the old GT looks better, and the new sedan looks better than the previous sedan.

Is bluelink free or do you have to pay a subscription like with OnStar? That always pissed me off, here we put this functionality in your car but you can only use it if you pay as a monthly fee.
